By registering to attend VWC, you agree to the following:
- VWC expects that all campers will respect our community agreements. Primary among these is following the Reclaiming Principles of Unity, seeking to uphold Reclaiming’s newly proposed Principles of Accountability, the use of consensus as a decision making tool, and the seeking of enthusiastic consent in interactions.
- If you have invited someone to VWC, please prime them with some of your understanding of VWC’s culture and language.
- During the entirety of camp, parents are responsible for their children at all times.
- VWC is a Reclaiming camp and as such is recreational drug and alcohol free. Smoking of tobacco is permitted only in the main parking lot.
- For many campers, a recreational drug-free & sober space is a core element for their safety and enjoyment of camp. VWC organizing campers also understand the nuances of substance use and bodily autonomy. We acknowledge that campers may be using substances while at camp for chronic pain, anxiety, or other purposes. We ask all campers to be aware of how they are presenting themselves and affecting others experience. This includes having odors of cannabis, alcohol, or tobacco on the clothes and breath. Behavior and smells may be activating for those in recovery or who have experienced trauma around substance use.
- Pets and/or therapeutic/support animals are not permitted at VWC, due to our host contract.
- Photography is prohibited in ritual and Path. Campers may take personal photos of themselves and their consenting friends outside of ritual/Paths with express permission from everyone who may be anywhere in the frame of the photo. Photos of children (under 18) may be taken only with explicit parental permission. Photos may never be posted or shared on social media.
- VWC encourages a week away from electronics. Please leave your laptops and video games at home. There is limited wi-fi enabled internet access for those who have urgent needs.
- No open flames (including candles and incense) in any cabins or tent platforms. Fires only in designated pre-existing fire circles and hearths with 5 gallons of water on hand to completely douse fires. Never leave fires unattended.
- Quiet hours are from 11:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. Many campers use this time to rest and recharge.
- All campers will follow lifeguard instructions and abide by waterfront rules. Per our contract with our host, there is no swimming or use of boats without a lifeguard. Lifeguards are on duty daily.
- Children under 18 must be under the supervision of a designated adult while at the waterfront. Camp lifeguards never act as designated adults for children.
- I understand that VWC is from August 24-30. If I leave camp early, I will inform an organizing camper and find someone to fill my post camp clean-up slot.
- All campers will sign a Liability waiver upon arriving at camp. Despite reasonable precautions taken, VWC cannot ensure that you will not be exposed to or contract COVID-19 as a result of participating in this event. By registering, you acknowledge and understand risks associated with possible exposure to and contraction of COVID-19.
- I have read the VWC 2024 Covid Policy and will follow safety protocols. Please check the VWC website for updates closer to camp.
- VWC reserves the right to deny or revoke admission to camp without refund for dangerous behavior or violations of community agreements. Campers who violate community agreements during camp may be asked to engage in conflict resolution.
